I will probably have to travel to western Ontario to find what I want and looks like my choices are New Idea or New...

Pull-type IH 234 Picker??? (you gotta see this!)
(Preview)
I ran across this outfit a few months ago at a dealer's lot not far from me. I finally got back there with a camera to take some pictures of this. Someone went to a lot of work to make this pull-type IH 234 picker! It appears to be mounted on a chassis from a JD 42 pull-type combine and the outfit is narrowed up t...

Can This Picker Be Identified?
(Preview)
I had some negatives converted into pictures, and this is a picture that I believe was taken sometime between 1945 and 1952. The mystery, to me, is that, to my knowlege, my Dad and his brothers never had an IH tractor or picker. I have an operators manual for a JD 226 that my Dad had written on the cover &q...

Talking about corn shellers . . . .

I have the bagger attachment for it, but it only has the grate-covered hopper where the cobs come out. I have the bottom part of a cob elevator f...

Picking corn in South Dakota

Here are some pics from this fall. The first five are of me playing with the "red" pickers. The next three are of my son doing some serious work with the John Deere. This year we picked a little over ten thousand bushels of ear corn. We harvested the majority of the corn with the combine.

How early is too early?
(Preview)
Anyone here have any thoughts on growing early season corn for picking? I would like to have a demonstration day, but of course fall harvest gets in the way, and with 4200 acres, we can't take days off, nor can our neighbors. So, if I plant short season corn EARLY, how early will it be? We typically pla...
