Just found you guys - great forum! I pick with a NI300 and 8N Ford
(Preview)
The inside snapping rolls must have a stripped gear - they don't work, so I just pick one row at a time, which is plenty for my little 8N. es

World's largest corn crib.

From 1910 until 1965, Sibley ILL. landmark was the world's largest corn crib. Designed by Farm Manager C.G. Rohrer, the 325ft. long structure resembled a giant "H". Harper Sibley paid $20,073 to build the 125,000 bu. crib on Ohio street along Route 47. I found this info. on a centeeial pla...

Vermeer Mounted Picker brochures

I thought I'd post something this week that many of you have never seen or maybe didn't even know existed. These are scans of 3 different single-sheet brochures I have for the Vermeer Tractor-Mounted Corn Harvester. They made a 4-row wide and a 6-row narrow version. From what I understand, you could...

After the JD 200 and before the 300, what was there?
(Preview)
Did Deere have a rear elevator version of the 200 before the 300 picker? I though I saw some literature for a 200A once that was a 200 with a rear elevator, but I could be wrong.

2M Cornpicker

I have a question about a 2M galvanized cornpicker that I intend on restoring. A few of the corner seams on the elevator are splitting. Is there any trick to welding the galvanized metal, or should I just skip that if it is a hassle and brace the corners with some other metal? My Dad, who used to use it, h...

Shelling in Snow

How well does a sheller do with shelling if their is snow on top of the corn? Would the snow break up enough before it got in the sheller so that it wouldn't fill up everything? I have corn in a pickett crib and might need to shell some corn for feed. It has a fair amount of snow on top already and we might be g...

When I was kid we had an sp that I just rember . We later had an AC #17 on a 1958 D-17 diesel and then a 1961 Ford red 2 row mounted on a Ford 981 Select-o-Speed. trying to figure ear corn and cubic feet
(Preview)
Here is what I'm looking at. I found a rectangular shaped crib. It is 72' long, 12' wide, and 12' to the roof trusses. I would just round the ears up from the walls, don't think the roof is made to go to the lid. I know the cubic feet of the building is 3455.6544 ft. I would like to know how many bushels of ear cor...
