Well we now own a corn picker
(Preview)
Brought home a very clean NI#7 550$. Where to get an operators manual? Looks simple enough, may not need one? The only observable flaw is a paddle is missing from one of the fingers that clears the rollers that I assume dehusk the corn. This picker will average 8.5 acres of corn/year. Kinda excited, i do...

I just thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs it - in addition to playing around with my pickers and shellers like many of us on this forum, I also have an extensive personal collection of sales brochures and literature. While it is not for sale, I am sure willing to share information, p...

robie robinson--question from for sale/wanted

Original post: If i want the husks on my ears(my hammermill doesn't care and my steers could careless as well) can the husking rollers be disabled or adjusted? I've never run a corn picker before. Robie Robinson On a New Idea 323, you could release the spring pressure all the way and remove the steel peg...

I just came across this forum and am glad for it. Many of you sound very knowledgeable about pickers - something that will come in handy for me in the future. Attached are some pics of me and some of my children picking corn this year.

I'm looking for a picker and would like to know what the volume is per bushel of picked corn vs combined corn. I've built a corn crib and am trying to figure what it 'll hold in picked corn, that will inform me as to what i ought to plant to fill it, and what sorta picker(size) i'll need. Am leaning towards a NI...

Questions about JD 7100 Planter
(Preview)
I've been looking for a JD 71 Flex planter (2 row) to plant my corn next year. I put an add in the Farmers and Consumers Bulletin. I had a guy respond yesterday the he had JD 7100 planters that he would sell to me for $175.00 each. I could put 2 on a toolbar and have a two row planter. Question is: Is this a go...

With or without a sheller on the 227/237. And for the 226, mounted on an unstyled 'A', but beggers can't be choosers. TIA Art -- Edited by Art From De Leon on Monday 30th of November 2009 06:49:27 AM

Out playing with the picker-sheller
(Preview)
Earlier this fall I mounted up my New Idea 319 gathering unit on my JD 2520, in preparation to fill the 2 cribs that I filled last year. To save space in the shed until I was ready to use it, I did not mount the husking bed on it right away. Soon after I had it ready to go I discovered that most of the corn this...

Price of a good elevator in NW Missouri,
(Preview)
I live in NW Missouri about 15 miles from the Iowa line. I have found a corn elevator not to far from home. The elevator has a drag on it. It is 50 ft long he says. It's in really good shap. The problem is I dont know what it's worth. Most of them in this area are used as feed bunks. He is asking $1200. -- Edited b...

I'm on You Tube!
(Preview)
Here they are, I finally got them on you tube! I had a great time picking (and this was my first time!) I did notice that the picker had a hard time keeping up with the high population corn, but I feathered the hand clutch on my WD and it went great once I found a good speed. Name That Picker
(Preview)
About ten years ago an old friend gave me a very basic corn picker. This year I finally got time to put it into working condition. As you can see it is very basic just one long husking roller and fan into an auger to the elevator. Leaves a lot of husks but, it sure is better than hand picking the three acres...
